Dear Parents/Guardian,
On Tuesday, September 19 from 8:00 until 3:15, our students will be holding “Student-Led conferences.”
Please bring your child at your designated time so that the teachers will be able to provide you with
assignments, tests, and/or projects regarding your child’s progress. Designated times are as follows:
Time: Last names beginning with:
8:00-9:30 Letters A-D
10:00-11:30 Letters E-Mc
12:00-1:30 Letters Me-R
2:00-3:15 Letters S-Z
These conferences will provide an opportunity for your child to reflect upon his/her successes up
to this point in the school year and to provide you with examples of what he/she has learned in
each of the academic areas. We emphasize that these are student-led conferences and that the teachers
will help direct the conversation. The timeframe for each Student-Led Conference is 10 minutes. If you
wish to hold a Parent-Teacher conference with your child’s teacher(s), a conference request sheet will
be available for you to complete, and the teacher will contact you to set up a conference at a later date.
Your child will be showcasing his/her schoolwork and discussing educational goals with you. We have
four goals for these Student-Led Conferences:
- For parents-we hope that you will get to see rather than simply being told about your child’s progress
- For students-we hope students will take more responsibility for their learning.
- For teachers-we want teachers to have more meaningful conferences with you and your child
- For all-we want to maximize our time together, create ways to partner with one another to
support student success.
Students in grades 7-12 will pick up their report cards, Advisement Period folders, and keys for teachers
to sign in the high school computer lab (Room 32) and then proceed to their teachers’ classrooms.
All other students will go directly to their classrooms to meet with their teachers.
We are excited to share with you!
Sincerely,
Naomi C. Coyle, Ed.D.
